Nerea Ubieto is an independent curator and art critic based in Madrid, Spain. She holds a degree in Art History from the University of Zaragoza, and has a MA in Art Market. She is currently travelling around with her exhibition “Keep Calm and carry on” showing it in several countries in Latin America (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Cuba, Panama) as well as developing new curatorial projects. In 2017 he received the Fellowship of Residence abroad of the Community of Madrid, developed in HIAP (Helsinki International Artist Program). In 2016 he was awarded the CPR International Exhibition Award selected by the artist Rirkrit Tiravanija. The exhibition “Return Flight Tickets” was held at the Max Estrella Gallery in Madrid in July 2017. This same year she curated “The Invisible Threat ” at Sala Amadis and the Nexofoto Award at the Ponce Robles Gallery.
In April 2016 she inaugurated the group show “Keep calm and carry on” in Tabacalera Madrid and several individual exhibitions in private galleries like Swinton and Grant or Zero gallery. Among its international residences stands out the one made in Estonia and Finland thanks to the Curatorial Program of Research (CPR). Product of this residency, is her recent involvement in a program for Metrópolis TVE on Estonian artists, emission for which she has done other titles like “Arte Entrometido” or “1 + 1 = 1”. At the beginning of 2015 she was the beneficiary of the Prize for Young Curators from Injuve with her curatorial project “The Ship of Theseus”, which later travelled to various AECID Centers in Latin America (Managua, Mexico and San Salvador).
